Mieczysław Szaleski

Mieczysław Szaleski (born December 3, 1891 in Żołynia , † April 16, 1958 in Warsaw ) was a Polish violist and music teacher.

After attending grammar school and the Kraków Conservatory during the First World War, Szaleski served with the Tyrolean riflemen . Later he belonged to both the Szymanowski Quartet, founded by Irena Dubiska in 1930, and (from 1939) her piano quartet. From 1954 to 1957 he was professor at the Warsaw Music Academy and dean of the orchestral instrument department. His students include Zenon Płoszaj and the jazz musician Michał Urbaniak .
