Katri "Kaisa" Vellamo Parviainen (born December 3, 1914 in Muuruvesi , Northern Savo , † October 21, 2002 in Rauma ) was a Finnish javelin thrower . She was the first Finnish woman to win a medal at the Summer Olympics.
She took part in the Olympic Games in London in 1948 and in Helsinki in 1952 . In 1948 she won the silver medal in the javelin throw with a throw over 43.79 m. She also took part in the long jump competition and took 13th place with a jump over 5.27 m. At her second Olympic Games she only took part in the javelin throw. But with a throw of 39.82 m, she did not get beyond 16th place.
