Michael Dacher
Michael "Michl" Dacher (born August 21, 1933 in Peiting ; † December 3, 1994 there ) was a German alpinist and extreme mountaineer . In 1979, he ascended with Reinhold Messner the K2 in record time and without oxygen. He has climbed ten eight-thousanders in his life.
For his athletic achievements he received the silver bay leaf on November 12, 1982 .
Dacher unexpectedly died of heart failure in his sleep in 1994 at the age of 61 .
A secondary school in Khadambas , a village 80 km east of Kathmandu in Nepal , and a street in his hometown of Peiting are named after Michael Dacher .
