Summit of the Maukspitze |
The Maukspitze is a 2231 m above sea level. A. high summit in the Kaiser Mountains in the northern Limestone Alps .
location
The Maukspitze represents the easternmost independent summit of the Kaisergebirge. To the east the ridge of the Niederkaiser joins, in the west the Maukspitze borders the Ackerlspitze . To the south, the Maukspitze drops steeply and ruggedly (Niedersessel, Hochsessel), sometimes with vertical wall steps into the Leukental to St. Johann in Tirol . To the north, the Maukspitze breaks off steeply to the Kaiserbachtal . Most of the mountain belongs to the municipality of Kirchdorf in Tirol ; the summit cross is right on the border with the communities of Going am Wilden Kaiser and St. Johann in Tirol.
Routes
Due to its exposed location, the Maukspitze is a popular viewing point, but it is not easily accessible from any side. The easiest approach is from the Wochenbrunneralm in the south via Niedersessel and the southeast ridge (I). The Maukspitze can also be reached from the Ackerlspitze via an exposed mountain trail that requires surefootedness, a head for heights and alpine experience . In any case, the Ackerlhütte is a good starting point . There are also many climbing routes of various degrees of difficulty.
