Horst Höfler

Horst Hofler (* 17th November 1948 in Munich , † 23. January 2012 ) was a German Alpine - Journalist and Bergbuch- author .

Life

After training as an industrial clerk, Höfler initially worked at Bergverlag Rother , most recently as head editor. This was followed by an engagement at the mountain sports outfitter Salewa as head of the advertising department and at the German Alpine Association as head of the public relations and culture departments. In 1996, he made his name as author independently . He made a name for himself above all with his knowledge of the history of mountaineering; In addition to non-fiction books and biographies, he also wrote guide books and articles for mountain magazines.

Höfler began mountaineering at the age of 16 and was a good all-round mountaineer who, among other things, managed to climb 6000 m in the Peruvian Andes .
