The Kangchenjunga West Summit ( English Kanchenjunga West , also known as Yalung Kang ) is a 8505 m high secondary summit of the Kangchenjunga , the third highest mountain in the world located in the Himalayas and at 8,586 m .
The summit is 1.11 km west of the main Kangchenjunga summit. The mountain ridge continues to the west to the Kangbachen . The Kangchendzönga glacier flows on the north flank and the Yalung glacier on the south flank .
The first ascent of the summit took place in 1973 by the Japanese Yutaka Ageta and Takao Matsuda. In 1980 the mountain was climbed for the first time without bottled oxygen.
