Routes

Johann Tavonaro and Philip Scheiner were the first to climb the Predigtstuhl on June 30, 1895.

The mountain is one of the famous climbing mountains in the northern Limestone Alps . The most famous climbs include the Angermannrinne (normal route in UIAA level III over the Predigtstuhlscharte), the striking northern edge and the Botzong chimney. The starting point for these routes is the Stripsenjochhaus of the PES .

The normal route begins in the upper part of the Steinerne Rinne and first leads to a scree terrace and from there through gullies and rocks (II-III) up to the Predigtstuhlscharte , located between the main summit of the Predigtstuhl and the Hinteren Goinger Halt in the south . From the notch, the route leads over the Angermannrinne (III, bolt) up to the summit cross with a book. Time required around 1.25 hours.

Often, following an ascent of the Predigtstuhl main summit, starting from the Predigtstuhlscharte via the north ridge, the Hintere Goinger Halt is climbed and from there descended via the marked trail.

The north summit can be climbed, for example, via the north edge (III – IV); From there it is possible to cross the central summit to the main summit via Botzongscharte (II – IV).
