The Stripsenjochhaus is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Kufstein section of the Austrian Alpine Club in the Kaiser Mountains in Tyrol .
location
The house is located directly on the Stripsenjoch , the transition from the Kaiserbachtal to the Kaisertal and the intersection of the Zahmem and Wildem Kaiser. This means that the Stripsenjochhaus is very centrally located and is often referred to as the hub of the Kaiser Mountains.
history
The house goes back to plans from 1899 and was built from 1901 to 1902 by the AV section Kufstein. The house was inaugurated in the early summer of 1902. The first tenant was Johann Tavonaro until 1925, who set the record with two hundred ascents of the Totenkirchl by 1910 and, together with Philip Scheiner, was the first to climb the Predigtstuhl on June 30, 1895 . The alpinist Peter Aschenbrenner was also a hut keeper at times. In the 1950s and 1960s the house was rebuilt, renovated and expanded several times. During this time the supply cable car from the Griesner Alm was built. In 2000 the house was damaged in a room fire and renovated the following year. The Stripsenjochhaus is now managed by the 2nd generation of the Fankhauser family from Ginzling in the Zillertal.
