The Hans-Berger-Haus (also: Hans-Berger-Hütte , formerly: Kaisertalhütte ) is a refuge of the Austrian tourist association Naturfreunde , section Kufstein in the Kaiser Mountains in Tyrol . The tenants run a mountaineering school.

location

The hut is located at an altitude of 940 meters in the rearmost Kaisertal at the foot of Totenkirchl , Karlspitzen and Ellmauer Halt . The backdrop of these mighty rock peaks is unmistakable. The Hans-Berger-Haus is a popular destination for hikers and an important base for mountaineers and climbers who undertake longer tours in the Wilder Kaiser from here. The Anton-Karg-Haus of the Austrian Alpine Club is only a 15-minute walk away .

history

On March 13, 1911, the Kufstein local group of friends of nature came into being. Their endeavors to own their own refuge were only successful twenty years later, when on July 30, 1931 the application for a building site was accepted by the municipality of Kufstein.

The refuge was officially opened on July 17, 1933 as the Kaisertalhütte ; on October 2, 1933, a festival took place on the occasion of the "completed enlargement". At the same time, the decision to build a “large accommodation house” was already made.

After a generous expansion in 1956, the Kaisertalhütte was renamed the Hans-Berger-Haus in honor of the long-time local group chairman. It has been the seat of the Wilder Kaiser mountaineering school since 1968. The house was completely rebuilt and modernized again in 2009.

Approaches

The hut trail (450 meters in altitude ) begins in Kufstein- Sparchen and leads past Veitenhof, Pfandlhof, Antoniuskapelle and Anton-Karg-Haus without difficulty through the entire Kaisertal in around 2½ hours to the Hans-Berger-Haus.

It is also possible to approach from the Griesner Alm in the Kaiserbachtal . However, you first have to climb 600 meters in altitude to the Stripsenjochhaus, from there it is a good 600 meters down to the Hans-Berger-Haus, walking time three hours.
