Contrastive hypothesis

The Contrastive hypothesis (ger .: contrastive hypothesis ) states that the acquisition of a foreign language those properties are perceived as easier, which in structure to the native language are similar. Differences between the two languages, however, lead to learning difficulties and are the main source of errors. A foreign language is therefore more difficult to learn the greater the difference to the mother tongue.
