Frank Sels (born December 3, 1942 in Antwerp , † December 19, 1986 ) was a Belgian cartoonist and author. He became known in German-speaking countries through the Silberpfeil comics.

After studying art in Antwerp and briefly working in a printing company, Sels joined Willy Vandersteen's drawing studio in 1963 . There he supported Karel Verschuere in his work on Karl May and De Rode Ridder . He then worked on various historical and western comics and kept in touch with Vandersteen, with whom he finally broke up in 1969. From that year he worked directly with the Bastei publishing house , for which he created the comic series Zilverpijl ( Silver Arrow ). With his own drawing studio that employed several draftsmen, Sels was able to meet Bastei’s quantitative requirements. Sels committed suicide shortly after he turned 44.
