Germain Lefebvre (singer, 1924)

Germain Lefebvre (born January 10, 1924 in Montreal , † December 3, 2008 ibid ) was a Canadian singer (bass), choir director and music teacher.

The son of the bassist of the same name, Germain Lefebvre, studied Gregorian singing with Clément Morin from 1936 to 1942 and was then a student of Salvator Issaurel until 1944 and of Pauline Donalda for another ten years . After the death of his father in 1946, he succeeded him as choirmaster of the St-Jean-Baptiste Church and worked from 1967 to 1977 in the same function at the Church of St-Sylvain de Laval .

From 1960 to 1972 he taught at the Chomedey Laval School, after which he was an educational advisor there until 1987. In 1968 he founded the Choeur de Laval , with which he recorded Théodore Dubois ' Sept Paroles du Christ in 1979 . As a singer, he appeared on the CBC radio and television .
