Edward Larrabee Adams

Edward Larrabee Adams (born March 16, 1878 in New York City , † December 3, 1957 in Ann Arbor ) was an American Romanist and Provençalist .

life and work

Adams studied at Harvard University with Charles Hall Grandgent , and from 1902 to 1903 with Gaston Paris in Paris. In 1907 he completed his doctorate with parts of the work Word formation in Provençal (New York 1913, 1967; 607 pages).

His teaching career was entirely at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor . There he was Instructor (1904), Assistant Professor (1913), Associate Professor (1921) and from 1928 to 1948 Full Professor at the Department of Romance Languages, where he continued to teach after his retirement.

Adams taught Old Provencal from 1914 .
