Albrecht Rudolf Rüetschi
Albrecht Rudolf Rüetschi (born December 3, 1820 in Bern , † January 30, 1903 there ) was a Swiss Protestant clergyman and university professor .

family
Albrecht Rudolf Rüetschi was the son of Samuel Rüetschi (* May 7, 1787 in Bern; † March 16, 1861 ibid), director of the Progymnasium (today: Gymnasium Kirchenfeld ) and his wife Maria Anna Albertine (* January 24, 1784 in Windisch ; † June 10, 1836 in Bern), daughter of the field preacher in Dutch service and pastor in Windisch, Beat Ludwig Samuel Ernst (1740–1803). His brother Karl Ludwig Rüetschi (born May 2, 1822 in Bern, † June 19, 1867 in Sumiswald), became pastor in Sumiswald and was with the writer Maria Henriette (1822-1867) ( pseudonym : Marie Walden ), daughter of the writer and Pastor Albert Bitzius , married. His mother was married to the printer Daniel Gottlieb Stämpfli (1770–1807); they had three children together. After the death of her husband, she continued the printing works that he had acquired until she was able to hand it over to her son Karl Samuel Stämpfli (1806–1846). Albrecht Rudolf Rüetschi married Adele Katharina in 1848 (born September 2, 1824 in Bern, † August 24, 1860 in Kirchberg ), daughter of the politician Friedrich Fueter . They had five children together:
- Adelheid Rüetschi (born August 20, 1849 in Trub ; † September 28, 1849 there);
- Rudolf Rüetschi (born January 13, 1851 in Trub; † March 2, 1887 in Münchenbuchsee ), pastor in Reutigen and later pastor in Münchenbuchsee; married to Johanna Margaretha (1854–1877), daughter of the iron merchant Friedrich Wäber (1824–1882);
- Anna Louise Rüetschi (born April 15, 1854 in Trub; † August 22, 1886 in Langnau ), married to Ernst Albrecht (1849–1927), son of the pharmacist and politician Christian Leonhard Müller (1816–1881), pastor in Reichenbach and pastor in Langnau;
- Emma Rüetschi (born July 1, 1855 in Kirchberg; † 1910), second wife of Ernst Albrecht Müller, who was married to her older sister;
- Eduard Rüetschi (born October 19, 1859 in Kirchberg; † 1931), businessman ; married to Sophia Elisabeth (1862–1922), daughter of Rudolf Leuzinger.
education
He enrolled at the University of Bern and began studying theology, which he continued at the University of Berlin and the University of Tübingen .
Career
In 1842 he passed his state examination ; in the same year he was ordained and he became vicar at the Bern Minster .
In 1848 he became pastor in Trub, before he became pastor in Kirchberg in 1853 and in Burgdorf in 1858. From 1867 until his resignation from the pastor's office in 1897, he was pastor at the Bern Minster.
Teaching activities
In addition to his pastoral office, from 1845 he was a private lecturer in Hebrew and Old Testament exegesis ; In 1849 his teaching activities as a private lecturer ended. From 1878 to 1890 he was then honorary professor for Old Testament theology at the University of Bern.
Social work
He was temporarily editor of the Church Gazette for Reformed Switzerland (today: Reformed Press ). In 1864 he was President of the Synodal Council. From 1881 to 1895 he was President of the Society for Carpenters , President of the Small Citizens' Council and the Citizens Library Commission. He belonged to the theological direction of the mediators, who were influenced by Friedrich Schleiermacher and stood between the irreconcilable reformers and the positives .
