Dillon Battistini (born December 3, 1977 in Ewell , Surrey ) is a British racing driver .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts , Battistini began his career in karting . In 2000 he made his debut in formula racing and took part in four British Formula Renault races. After a break he was runner-up in the 2003 Caterham Superlight Championship. In 2006 Battistini returned to formula racing and competed in the Asian Formula 3 championship . With five podium finishes, he finished his first season in fourth place overall. In 2007 Battistini stayed in the Asian Formula 3 championship and was champion with five wins ahead of Henri Karjalainen .

In the winter of 2007/2008 Battistini completed test drives for the Minardi Team USA Champ Car team . After the union of the Champ Car and the IndyCar Series , however, there was no engagement. Battistini stayed in North America and moved to Panther Racing in Indy Lights . He won his debut race in Homestead , which was also his first ever oval race . He completed the last race of the season for the Moore Racing team . Battistini won a total of four races in the season and was the driver with the most wins. Nevertheless, it was not enough to win the title and he was sixth in the championship. In 2009 Battistini started for Genoa Racing at only one race of the Indy Lights. He retired from the race and finished 29th overall. 2010 Battistini again did not take part in the entire season. He started for the PBIR and Bryan Herta Autosport teams in one Indy Lights race each and came in ninth place in both races. In the driver standings he finally finished 22nd.

After Battistini was initially without a cockpit in 2011 , he received an IndyCar cockpit from Conquest Racing for the penultimate race of the season . He was eliminated in the race as 28th.

Like his mother, Dillon Battistini is a British citizen. His father is Italian .
