Abbo from Auxerre

Abbo von Auxerre († 860 ) is a Catholic saint .

His father Antelmus came from Bavaria, his mother Frotilde was a Franconian from Gâtinais . His predecessors in the office of bishop, Heribald, and Lupus Servatus were his brothers.

Abbo was a monk in the monastery of Germanus in Auxerre (France), was elected abbot and in 857 Bishop of Auxerre. He resigned from office three years later to return to life as a monk.
