Alfred Edel (born March 12, 1932 in Abensberg ; † June 17, 1993 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German actor .

Life

After studying very broadly both professionally and in terms of time (including sociology, philosophy, history, theater studies), he was hired by Alexander Kluge in 1965 for the film Farewell from Yesterday . As a result, he developed into a very busy actor in the New German Film and worked with Werner Herzog ( Everyone for himself and God against all , 1974), Hans-Jürgen Syberberg ( Hitler, a film from Germany , 1977), and Christoph , among others Schlingensief ( The German Chainsaw Massacre , with Reinald Schnell , 1990).

Edel was a master of the charge who knew like no other how to parody pomposity and know-it-alls. He showed his comic talent, among other things, in his bizarre intellectual role as the main actor in The Casanova Project of the New Frankfurt School .

In addition to his work as an occasional actor, Edel, who had lived in Frankfurt since 1963, mainly worked for advertising agencies and had also been a member of the SPD since 1962 , to which he had joined under the influence of Waldemar von Knoeringen . In 1989 he married his longtime partner, the sociologist Dorle Miesala. He died of a heart attack and was buried in the cemetery in Grafenau in Lower Bavaria .
