action

Outcast by his parents, the young Karl Roßmann emigrated to the USA in the early 20th century. No sooner had he arrived in America than he happened to meet his rich American uncle on board the ship. This takes Karl and patronizes him. However, when he does a friend of his uncle's a favor, he is shown by his uncle at the door. Karl now moves around with Delamarche and Robinson, whom he has met in an inn, to find work. He finds a job as a lift boy in a hotel. But he loses it again after taking the drunk Robinson with him to the dormitory. He is even accused of theft and alcoholism. Over time, more mishaps happened to Karl and he suffered many humiliations. In the end, Karl ends up in the Oklahoma theater , where he first carries out simple technical work.
