occupation

Somehow and Anyway is a television series by Franz Xaver Bogner . The series produced by Tellux-Film GmbH was first broadcast on Bavarian television in 1986 in twelve episodes of 50 minutes each. It was repeated in 1988, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2009 and 2011 in five parts of 90 minutes each (shortened and partly changed double sequences). In 2003, 2006 (20th anniversary), 2008, 2011 (25th anniversary), 2016 (30th anniversary) and 2020, the twelve episodes were repeated in their original length.

With his mixture of local color and lovingly nostalgic portrayal of the hippie era, Bogner achieved a public success that is still celebrated in Bavaria today with motto parties based on the series title. With his portrayal of the naive but lovable Sir Quickly , Ottfried Fischer achieved national recognition. Other leading actors were Elmar Wepper , Robert Giggenbach , Olivia Pascal and Michaela May . The theme music for the series comes from Haindling .

Filming locations of the series

The filming locations are mainly in the border area between Lower and Upper Bavaria . The two farms are almost directly opposite each other near Schwindegg . The painting of Sir's stable is still there, but in poor condition. At that time, an artist from England was specially hired to paint the stable with psychedelic motifs from the Beatles' era.

An NSU Quickly L , namesake for the hero of the series - Sir Quickly

The ox race, which Sir Quickly wins with his Ringo in the first episode , was actually held as an event by the Velden Boys' Association in Velden (Vils) in order to have many extras available for the shooting. The crossing of Sepp and Effendi while fetching the tape was filmed in Isen , the combine harvester overtaking scene between Isen and Buch am Buchrain and the church tower scene as well as the award ceremony at the folk festival in Velden. The Burger bus company is located in Vilsbiburg . The building has meanwhile been demolished and replaced by a new building. The Lido night club is in Altenmarkt . The recordings from the Martin Binser sawmill were shot in Vilsbiburg and Bad Tölz . The scenes in which the Sepp and Tango play American roulette , d. H. Driving the car over an intersection at night without lights took place in Forstinning in the Schwaberwegen district. The Sepp workshop was in Albaching , Rosenheim district, but has since been demolished. The old Moosach gasworks on Dachauer Strasse , which has since been demolished, was chosen as the location for the big hippie party . The scene in which Sepp gets stuck in the garden fence when he tries to climb over it because Charly wants to run over him was filmed in Munich on Ubostraße (district of Aubing). The Weßlinger See served as the backdrop for the rowing boat scene with Christl and the Sir , as well as for the scene when the two (on the shores of Lake Garda) sitting in the car decide to look for a smaller lake.

music

The title melody comes from Haindling . Songs by Pierre Henry , Canned Heat , The Beatles , The Rolling Stones , Elvis Presley , Adriano Celentano , Tony Dallara , Little Richard , The Byrds , Dean Martin , Al Martino , Graham Bonney , OC Smith , Stevie serve as additional background music Wonder , The Small Faces , Kenny Rogers , The Doors as well as music by the Thunderbirds and Veldener Blasmusik.

Quotes in other TV series and films

In the series Pfarrer Braun , in which Ottfried Fischer embodies the title character, there is a direct allusion to Somehow and Anyway . Not only is there an NSU Quickly there, but Pastor Braun also claims that he was called Sir Quickly during his time in the seminary because of this companion .

There is also an allusion in the series Der Bulle von Tölz with Ottfried Fischer in the leading role. In the episode Der Zuchtbulle , Fischer stands next to a bull and says: "Dope a bull, who does that?" The song Mr. Tambourine Man can be heard in the background . Thus the scene is evident from Somehow and Anyway meant when the Sir his ox plays to this song and it with rubbing alcohol rubs, so that it runs faster when ox race. According to an interview with Ottfried Fischer, the missing passenger seat of his 6 Series BMW in the Bull is a certain homage to Sir Quickly and his vehicle. In the episode circus air you can see some photos from Benno Berghammer's youth. A photo shows Ottfried Fischer skiing. It comes from the episode India and Environs in the series Somehow and Anyway .

In the film Tage wie Jahre (2008), Ottfried Fischer and Olivia Pascal, among others, play as parents of two of the three main young characters. Originally, two other parenting roles should be filled with Elmar Wepper and Robert Giggenbach, but this could not be achieved due to scheduling issues. Director Konstantin Ferstl wanted to draw a parallel with the main actors from Somehow and Anyway between the growing up of rebellious youngsters "then and now". As a further allusion, Ottfried Fischer's son of a film, who is also stocky, is out and about on a moped for days and years, just like Sir Quickly did in his time .
