Tony Dallara

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tony Dallara (* thirtieth June 1936 in Campobasso as Antonio Lardera ) is an Italian singer and TV star. He won the Sanremo Festival in 1960 , making him the oldest living Sanremo winner.

Career

Lardera was the son of a former Scala - choristers in Campobasso and grew up in Milan on. He first approached the music scene when he got a job as a technician at the small music label Music . He also performed occasionally in various Milanese bars. Eventually he was discovered by the Swiss producer Walter Guertler , the music director general, who signed the young talent and his accompanying musicians. In 1957 the single Come prima was released under the name I campioni, canta Tony Dallara , which was an enormous success with over 300,000 copies sold.

Dallara is considered to be the first representative of the urlatori (" screamers "), to which Mina and Adriano Celentano in particular were later included. With his singing technique he renewed Italian music in a way that was radical for the time, but was soon overwhelmed by the beat wave himself . At the end of the 1950s, Dallara achieved further successes with Brivido blu and Ti dirò (1958) as well as Non partir , Ghiaccio bollente and Per un bacio d'amor (1959). He also appeared in some Italian films (mostly musical comedies).

A career highlight was the victory at the Sanremo Festival in 1960 , where he and Renato Rascel presented the song Romantica . Already in 1961 returned to Sanremo Dallara back and joined together with Gino Paoli with the song Un uomo vivo to; however, it was only enough for tenth place. With Bambina, bambina he won the Canzonissima competition in the same year and he was also successful with La novia . In 1964 the singer appeared again at the Sanremo Festival, this time with Come potrei dimenticarti together with Ben E. King .

Soon, however, Dallara suffered a rapid decline in popularity, accompanied by a collapse in record sales. Regardless of this, he continued to record music until the early 1970s, then he withdrew in the meantime and instead worked quite successfully as a painter . At the beginning of the 80s Dallara returned to music and again had minor successes with Amada mia (1980) and Senza piangere (1981). He is still present to the Italian audience today through regular television appearances.
