Guido Malatesta

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guido Malatesta (born 1919 in Gallarate , Varese , † June 14, 1970 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Life

After a period as a journalist, Malatesta began in 1951 as a screenwriter of films that did not make a big impression. From 1956 he also directed several smaller Italian productions; TV favorite Mike Bongiorno played the leading role in his first comedy, I miliardari . In the early 1960s, he made some of the sandal films that were popular at the time, including The Odds of Hercules with Brad Harris . His films were aimed at a rather undemanding audience, whose tastes he met regularly, and were just as regularly torn up by critics. His stage name was James Reed .
