Lo sceriffo che non spara is a spaghetti western from 1965 that has not yet been performed in German-speaking countries. Mickey Hargitay plays one of the leading roles, directed by José Luis Monter .

action

Young Jim renounced the use of weapons after he fatally injured his father in a shooting accident. Nevertheless, he accepts the post of sheriff of Richmond, where a gang harasses the residents and spreads a climate of fear. Among other things, they raid a carriage in which Jim's fiancée Desiree is driving. Things get complicated when Jim discovers that his brother Allan is the leader of the gang. He knows about Jim's refusal to use guns and continues his intimidation, assault and other crimes unmoved. Jim tries his best to pacify the city regardless of the hostility; a dispute over the distribution of booty within the gangster group helps him, as the number of members is significantly reduced. When he meets up with the rest and his brother to fight, he emerges victorious, can expose the mastermind of the gang - Desiree's father, the Vermont banker - and marry his mistress.

criticism

Genre connoisseur Christian Keßler describes the film as an early sleaze western with bizarre stories. The Italian colleagues at Segnalazioni Cinematografiche made it clear: “A low-cost Western with a confused story and contradicting events. Very common in direction and performance. "

Remarks

The film poster, various posters and some directories show the title Il sceriffo non spara .

In interviews, Renato Polselli stated that he was the actual director of the film; the Spaniard Monter gave his name to it for tax reasons. Polselli often shot with Mickey Hargitay.

The costumes are from Tygano and the Pharo ; Carol Danell sings the songs .
