Otello Colangeli

Otello Colangeli (born December 20, 1912 in Rome , † January 6, 1998 there ) was an Italian film editor .

Life

Colangeli was already interested in radio and cinema technology as a child and worked as a projectionist in a Roman cinema when he was seventeen. There he specialized in the Vitaphone process, which is modern with the emerging sound film . He trained as a film editor at “Edizioni Internazionali Cinematografiche” and gained his first experience as an assistant editor for numerous films from the 1930s. For Eraldo Da Roma he was responsible for the first time as editor; for two years he worked for the “SACI”.

After working for the War Department, which Colangeli summoned in 1936. After working for Cinecittà for a long time. after the Second World War he became one of the most sought-after editors in Italy. His filmography includes over 500 works; after 1980 he reduced the scope of his activities significantly.

In the 1950s Colangeli, who is also listed under various pseudonyms, founded “Cinemontaggio”, one of the most important companies for post-production in Italy. Occasionally he also worked as a producer.
