The strongest man in the world (original title: Il trionfo di Ercole ) is an adventure film with mythological elements, which Alberto de Martino directed in 1964. In Germany, shortened by almost a quarter of an hour, it was rented on June 25, 1965. Alternative titles are The Triumph of Hercules and Hercules, the strongest man in the world .

action

The intriguer Milo kills the king of Mycenae and leaves his daughter Aty to believe that resistance fighters around Eurystheus have committed the murder. When the population revolted against the hard hand of Milos, he found allies in the witch Pasifae and seven bronze warrior demons who fight for him.

At a tournament, a suitable, strong man should be found for Aty. Hercules, who is on the side of the population, takes part and experiences an assassination attempt on Aty, staged by Milo, for which Eurystheus is blamed. Hercules kills the innocent, gets his powers taken from his father Zeus, but gets them back in time to put an end to the bad guys and help justice to victory.

criticism

Somehow this story also sounds wondrously familiar to us, remarked Ronald M. Hahn / Volker Jansen and Norbert Stresau . The "harmless-colorful (r) colossal film" ( lexicon of international film ) is one of those films that makes you wonder who does the hair for women and where all these costumes and jewels come from; as if there was a beauty salon in the Colosseum, says DVD drive-in. The Evangelische Film-Beobachter judges quite mildly in his summary: "An Italian-French joint production that stands out from the crowd."

Remarks

In Italy the film grossed 212 million lire .
