Alberto De Martino

Alberto De Martino (born June 12, 1929 in Rome ; † June 2, 2015 there ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

De Martino, son of make-up artist Romolo De Martino , who worked in the film industry in the 1930s and 1940s , began his career as a child actor. After graduating in law  - he had also submitted a documentary film in 1948 - from 1952 he worked as an assistant director and film editor for directors such as Guido Leoni and Roberto Mauri and wrote two scripts for others before he was able to direct his first own film in 1961.

De Martino shot almost 30 solid films in all styles of entertainment. With Horror from 1962 and Gli eroi di Fort Worth , he was one of the pioneers of two genres that were later very popular not only in Italy. In the 1970s he was also involved in international productions such as the disaster film Holocaust 2000 . He worked on the script for all of his films.

De Martino also used the pseudonym Martin Herbert . His admirers include Quentin Tarantino and Tim Roth .
