Operation "Little Brother" (Original Title: OK Connery ) is an Italian agent film from 1967 with Neil Connery, the younger brother of Sean Connery , in the lead role. The film was released in the United States as Operation Kid Brother and in the video version as Operation Double 007 and Secret Agent 00 .

action

A criminal syndicate wants to take hold of the world's gold reserves. Since the best secret agent in Great Britain is indispensable at the moment, the British government hires his younger brother Neil Connery to fight the criminals. At first he has no desire to hunt down criminals, but in the end he goes on the trail of the criminals and their leader Beta.

criticism

"Elaborate agent film entertainment based on a familiar pattern."

The Italian critics were not enthusiastic and attested formulaic action, banal dialogues and unfavorable photography; the music is a plagiarism of the original films, according to P. Perona in Cività dell'Immagine No. August 4, 1967.

Even the Protestant film observer does not think much of the film: “Occasionally chalking allusions to the James Bond predecessors make it clear in which channel the film wants to reach its goal. Tension was replaced by a confused plot. "

production

When Sean Connery's brother Neil, a plasterer by trade, had a bag with his work tools stolen in the early 1960s, he turned to the press and gave a radio interview, among other things. Through this interview the producer Dario Sabatello became aware of him and invited him to test recordings in Rome, whereupon he offered him the leading role in Operation Little Brother . Neil Connery was to receive £ 5,000 for this, which corresponds to around 80,000 euros in 2012.

In addition to Neil Connery in the lead role, Sabatello hired five actors who were already known from James Bond films . Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell play roles similar to those in the James Bond franchise, where they played M and Miss Moneypenny . Adolfo Celi and Anthony Dawson were also identified as the villains from Fireball and Dr. No known. The latter also played Blofeld in Greetings from Moscow and Fireball , where only his hands could be seen. In addition there was Daniela Bianchi, the Bond girl from love greetings from Moscow .

Al Christian interprets the film song .

The film brought back the money invested; in Italy alone around 200 million lire .

In the United States, the film was released by United Artists , who were also responsible for the James Bond films.
