In the Nest of the Yellow Vipers is a German-Italian agent film from 1964 with Hellmut Lange in the lead role.

action

The devil is going on in South Africa. A secret underworld organization called the “Yellow Viper” is terrorizing the port city of Cape Town with robbery and murder. With the deadly poison of a viper they kill dangerous accomplices and opponents. Interpol is asked to help, and Washington sends - once again, of course - its best man, FBI agent van Dongen. He is supposed to smuggle himself into the criminal organization, have the gangster boss exposed and finally arrest him. The criminals are under pressure because they recently had one of their own, Carlo, murdered because he was alleged to have committed treason.

Shortly before, Carlo had sent a letter in which all the names of the "Viper" members should be listed. When van Donen's cover is blown after his successful infiltration, he receives unexpected help from the gang boss lover, who bailed him out. However, the beautiful young woman has to pay with her life for her betrayal. Nevertheless, the American, who personally still has a chicken to pluck with the gangsters - his father, a scientist, was murdered 15 years ago on behalf of the "yellow viper" - succeeds in following the snake after two chases on water and on land to cut off the head.

Production notes

In the Nest of the Yellow Viper was filmed in Cape Town and the surrounding area (South Africa) in 1964 and premiered in Italy on March 29, 1966. The German premiere took place on May 13, 1966.

useful information

In the nest of the yellow vipers is a typical product of the so-called “Eurospy” film wave, which at that time had been rampant in continental Europe since the great international success of the James Bond films. The majority of these films were co-produced between Spain, Italy, the Federal Republic and France.

criticism

For the lexicon of international films , Im Nest der Yellow Viper was a “simple-minded gangster rumor that is only aimed at superficial effects”.
