Massimo Serato (actually Giuseppe Segato ; born May 31, 1916 in Oderzo , † December 22, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Serato dropped out to enroll at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . His film career began in 1938 and he was a sought-after actor until his death, starring in nearly 170 films. Initially cast as the athletic hero of many films, he later often played the villain role, for which he seemed predestined by his sharp facial features. As early as the 1940s, he was seen mainly in adventure films, became one of the institutions of the sandal film and appeared in numerous spaghetti westerns . He was also featured in a number of photographic novels .

In 1947 Serato received the Nastri d'Argento for Il sole sorge ancora .

For a while he was in a relationship with actress Anna Magnani , with whom he has a son, Luca .
