The nights of love of Hercules (original title: Gli amori di Ercole ) is a mythological adventure film that was made in Italy in 1960. The film, directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia , was unanimously panned by the critics and premiered in German-speaking countries on December 13, 1960.
content
King Eurytus has the entire village in which Hercules lives destroyed and all residents killed while the hero is absent. Lycos avenges this act for selfish reasons; the son of Zeus falls in love with the new ruler Deianira. Lycos then intrigues even more intensely: he first puts Achilles on Hercules; when Achilles is found stabbed, Hercules is suspected. He also has to fend off various dangers and therefore fight with bulls, a three-headed hydra and against men - but also murderous Amazons. Hercules can survive all tests and ends happily with Deianira.
criticism
"More amusing than moving to tears: The humor, the involuntary one, is definitely not neglected."
- “ Colored picture book with further adventures of the ancient hero ”, says the rororo film lexicon.
"It is a mythological comic, devoid of any originality, played and staged modestly."
Remarks
- The two main actors, ex- Mr. Universum Mickey Hargitay and bosom miracle Jayne Mansfield, were married in real life at the time. Mansfield was paid $ 75,000 for the film.
