Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia
Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia (born July 8, 1894 in Frosinone , † January 4, 1998 in Capri ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Bragaglia was born the son of the Italian film pioneer Francesco Bragaglia and is the brother of Anton Giulio . In the years before the First World War , he studied law in Rome . He was wounded during the war and then worked as a photographer for the relatively new medium of cinema, specializing in portraits. In 1918 he and his brother Anton Giulio founded the Casa dell'Arte Bragaglia and later the Teatro degli Independenti , which was dedicated to the avant-garde and experimental theater form.
At the beginning of the 1930s, Bragaglia turned to the cinema and initially worked in various functions; In 1932 he directed his first own film, O la borsa o la vita . Over the years he realized numerous romantic comedies, in which he often worked with the greats of the time such as Vittorio de Sica , Umberto Melnati and Enrico Viarisio ; especially after the Second World War , he also shot adventure materials that were extremely popular, including several antique films and works with Totò .
Bragaglia died at the age of 103 in Capri, which he loved very much.
