Ursus in the Valley of the Lions (original title: Ursus nella valle dei leoni ) is a mythological adventure film about the strong slave Ursus, made in Italy . Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia directed Ed Fury in the title role; the film was released on September 7, 1962 in German-speaking countries.
action
As a toddler, Ursus was able to escape the pursuit of the usurper and regicide Ajak; he was raised by Leuven to be an exceptionally strong young man. A greedy slave trader, who takes a medallion from him as payment for the young Ania, also deals with Ajak, who in this way learns of the existence of Ursus and wants to have him killed as the rightful heir to the throne. The captors of the usurper, who rules with his playmate Diana, kill the lions; the angry Ursus cannot defend himself against the overwhelming odds and is thrown into a dungeon to serve as hyena food. Some revolting freedom fighters manage to free Ursus and with his help to defeat the soldiers of Ajak and finally he himself. Ursus ascends the throne with Ania.

The film was very successful in Italy and grossed 456 million lire there.
In France, the eponymous hero changed his identity and became Maciste .
