content

The city of Aran is being destroyed by the mole people, strange creatures who cannot stand the sun and are therefore only active at night. Her ruler is Queen Halis Mojab. In order to avenge the death of the King of Aran and to free his son and his fiancée, Loth and Saliurà, from slavery, the strong Maciste and his loyal black friend Bango go on a search for the mysterious realm.

You get into the winding corridors of the underground labyrinth, argue with the high priest Kahab and are exposed to a number of dangers such as fights with lions and giant apes. Finally, after the queen had also fallen in love with Maciste, they succeed in destroying the empire with the help of the mole man's slaves: Maciste collapses the center of the empire, so that the sun shines into the depths, which takes the mole men away.

criticism

If the lexicon of the international film noted "another adventure of the series hero in a loincloth fresh out of bodybuilding school", the film service stated: "In terms of its technical complexity and its intellectual primitiveness, the film is similar to the previous series".

In Italy it was said: "Again, no equal rivals for the muscular Maciste in this well-staged color adventure"

Remarks

The film was the second sound film with the mythological hero Maciste as the title character; in a supporting supporting role the later very successful entertainer Raffaella Carrà .
