The FK Novi Pazar ( Serbian Фудбалски клуб Нови Пазар, Fudbalski klub Novi Pazar ) is a Serbian football club from the city of Novi Pazar , in the Prva liga plays, the second highest football -Liga in Serbia.

history

When it was founded in 1928, the club was called FK Sandžak and later FK Deževa . After a merger between Deževa and FK Ras , it became today's FK Novi Pazar in 1962. He was amateur champion in the former Yugoslavia and was a member of a lower division in the east of the country. Twice you reached play-offs for the 1st division and was beaten both times. The first time they lost to Sutjeska Nikšić , the second time to Sloboda Užice .

Well-known former players included Abdulah Gegić , who as coach of the Serbian top club Partizan reached the final of the European Cup in the 1965/66 season, where he and his team were only barely defeated by Real Madrid , and Ismet Ugljanin , also a former member of Partizan , and Radnički Niš . Other well-known players were Bajro Župić and Rahim Beširović , also former members of the traditional Partizan family.

Since the 2011/12 season, FK Novi Pazar has played in the first division . Up to the 34th and last matchday of the preseason, the club, led by the Serbian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Rasim Ljajić , fought with the slightly ahead runner-up Radnički 1923 Kragujevac in the 2nd division for promotion to the 1st division. After the champions BASK was denied promotion due to financial problems, FK Novi Pazar moved up in third place and rose to the highest Serbian league for the first time. In the 2014/2015 season , FK Novi Pazar took 5th place in the Super League , which is the greatest success in the club history of FK Novi Pazar so far. In the 2016/2017 season , the club was relegated to the second division after 6 years in the first division.

After relegation, the club's board announced on June 15, 2017, due to financial problems, the bankruptcy of the club. On July 1, 2017, the club announced that it would not go into bankruptcy.

After Novi Pazar's promotion to the first division in the 2010/2011 season, the then Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Rasim Ljajic and the then Mayor of Novi Pazar Meho Mahmutovic announced the reconstruction of the stadium. The construction was financed by a project of the Serbian Football Association (FSS) and the city of Novi Pazar. The cost of construction was around 2 million euros. The west and east stands were completely expanded, with the west stand being covered with a roof. In 2012 a north stand was also built. After the stadium work was finished, the capacity of the stadium was expanded to 16,000 seats. In addition, the stadium got new floodlights, a new locker, a press room, a new ambulance, a parking lot and a ticket office.
