The FK Metalac (full official name in Serbian : Фудбалски клуб Meтaлaц - Фудбалски клуб Металац, Fudbalski klub Metalac - FK Metalac ), mostly Metalac for short , is a Serbian football club from Gornji Milanovac . The club, founded in 1961, plays in the Prva liga , the second highest division in Serbian football .

history

In the spring of 1961, Gornji Milanovac's Municipal Committee on Physical Culture organized a football tournament for working-class youth and rural people . The tournament was held in Takovo and only local teams and no registered players were allowed to participate. After the tournament ended, he concluded that there was footballing potential in Milanovac. For example, on the initiative of former football player Miroslav Spasojević, a meeting was held at which Spasojević suggested that young people from city companies should register and actively play football. His proposal found support from the two companies Graditelj and Metalac . Finally, a football club was launched on June 12, 1961, and the unions of the two companies also took part in its founding meeting . The newly founded club called Radnik was registered in Čačak and took part in the regional league competition there. In the 1964/65 season the club was given its current name, FK Metalac.
