Takovo is a village in the municipality of Gornji Milanovac in the Moravica district with 493 inhabitants (2002). Takovo is centrally located in Serbia at an altitude of 472 meters above sea level. The future Horgoš - Požega motorway is to run past Takovo .
history
April 11th July / April 23, 1815 greg. , Palm Sunday according to the Julian calendar , the Second Serbian Uprising against the Ottomans began in Takovo under the leadership of Miloš Obrenović . The decision to uprising was made by the National Council of Serbs in Takovo under an oak tree, which went down in Serbian history as Takovski grm .
The uprising heralded the end of the Ottoman domination in all of south-eastern Europe and gained enormous importance for the resurrected Serbia, so that 50 years later a Takovo Order was designed for special military and civilian merits. In 1895 the realistic Serbian painter Paja Jovanović took up the subject and captured the scene of the meeting in Takovo with Miloš Obrenović in the middle on oil.
