Rasim Ljajić ( Cyrillic Расим Љајић; born January 28, 1964 in Novi Pazar , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian politician , Deputy Prime Minister of the Serbian Government and Minister of Foreign and Domestic Trade and Telecommunications, President of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia, former President of the Democratic Party des Sandžak , Bosniak ethnicity.

Life

Ljajić was born on January 28, 1964 in Novi Pazar . There he finished elementary school and high school. He finished his studies at the Medical Faculty in Sarajevo . Between 1989 and 2000 he worked as a reporter for numerous daily newspapers and magazines in the areas of the former SFRY .

His political career began in 1990 when he was elected Secretary General of SDA Sandžak. In 1994 he was elected president of the Sandžak coalition, which was renamed the Sandžak Democratic Party in 2000 .

In March 2003 he was elected Minister for Human and Minority Rights to the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro . From 2003 to 2006 he held the position of co-chair of the joint committee on economic cooperation with many Arab countries. Since July 2004 he has been President of the National Council for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and since July 2006 coordinator for the implementation of the Action Plan for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Since September 2005 he has been President of the Coordination Office for Presevo , Bujanovac and Medvedja .

In 2004, Ljajić was voted person of the year 2004 by the news magazine Vreme .
