Vreme ( Die Zeit ) is a weekly news magazine that has been published since October 29, 1990. Originally Belgrade and Rijeka ( Yugoslavia ) were places of publication, after a short time only Belgrade; Vreme appears in Latin script . In the 1990s, the circulation was given as 30,000, of which more than 25% were sold abroad.
The first editor was Zoran Jeličić , today Vojislav Milošević is the editor and Dragoljub Žarković is the editor-in-chief. In the years 1990 to 2005 the Vreme regularly contained caricatures of "Corax" ( Predrag Koraksić , * 1933). Other well-known employees are or were Dušan Reljić , Miloš Vasić and Stojan Cerović .
Since May 31, 1994 the international edition Vreme International has been published , which is distributed mainly in Western Europe by VREME International GmbH in Vienna and is printed in Ljubljana .
The Vreme was in the Milošević era as the main independent media in Serbia and as a reliable source of information that was frequently cited in Western media. Since September 1991 the news agency Vreme NDA (for News Digest Agency ) has been operated for this purpose, making English-language translations of Vreme articles available electronically.
