The OBOS-ligaen 2016 was the 54th season of the second highest Norwegian football league and the second under the name OBOS-ligaen . It began on April 3, 2016 and ended on October 30, 2016. The promotion round and relegation games took place from November 5 to December 4, 2016.

The champion and the runner-up were promoted directly to the Tippeliga. The winner of the promotion round still had the chance to be promoted in the relegation against the 14th of the Tippeliga. The last four teams were relegated to the PostNord-Liga .

    Promotion lap

    The teams in places three to six qualified for the promotion round, which was carried out in the knockout system .
