Pontus Engblom (born November 3, 1991 in Sundsvall ) is a Swedish football player . The striker has played in his home country and Norway in his career so far.

Career

Career start in Sweden

Engblom comes from the youth of IFK Sundsvall . As a teenager, he played for the club's adult team in fourth-class Division 2 in the 2007 season and fought for a regular place over the course of the season. At the end of the season he rose with the club in the fifth division Division 3 , but there he shone as a regular goalscorer. With 26 goals this season in 21 games contested by the striker - for the club from Västernorrlands län it was not enough for a direct promotion as fourth in the table - he aroused the interest of higher-class clubs in a commitment after the end of the season in autumn 2008.

At the end of October 2008, Engblom decided to move to the traditional club AIK in Allsvenskan . After he was used in some preparation games for the first division season in 2009 , he was initially in the squad for the cooperation club Väsby United . Finally, he made his debut on May 25, 2009 for AIK as a substitute for Daniel Tjernström on the occasion of a 0-1 defeat by Gefle IF in the top Swedish division. This made him the 500th player who had accrued for the club in the Allsvenskan since the league was founded in 1924. After another Allsvenskan brief assignment the following week, he returned to Väsby United until the summer break.

After Engblom could no longer play for Väsby United in the second half of the 2009 season for technical reasons, AIK loaned him to third division Västerås SK in August . There he played four games until the end of September, scoring four goals. He then returned to AIK to take part with the youth team in the championship finals, in which the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Engblom also played regularly for AIK in preparation for the 2010 season. While he was on the bench for the entire season when he won the Supercup with a goal from Antônio Flávio , he came a short time later to the side of Miran Burgić , Martin Kayongo-Mutumba and Antônio Flávio for his first stakes from the start in the highest Swedish Division. Finally, he helped coach Mikael Stahre's team as a substitute in the first round of the Svenska Cup with his first competitive goal for AIK to 3-1 final after extra time against Östers IF to advance in the competition, but could not prevail permanently and played again at times for the cooperation partner Väsby United. After the summer break he played for AIK in the European Cup. While he was able to contribute to the advancement in qualifying for the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League against the Luxembourg representative Jeunesse Esch as a goal scorer, he missed the play-off round with the team against Rosenborg BK from Norway. Then he wavered between the starting line-up and bench under the now signed coach Alex Miller . In October of that year he returned briefly to Västerås SK. In March of the following year, he prematurely extended his contract with AIK until 2013, but was loaned again - this time to the second division club GIF Sundsvall . There he quickly established himself as a regular player and formed a goal-threatening storm duo , especially with Fredrik Holster . With 13 goals this season he was ultimately one of the ten most successful goal scorers in the league.

After his return to AIK at the turn of the year, Engblom was still not one of the regular players at his club. Although he scored his first league goal for the club in the 1-0 home game against IFK Göteborg , he was only in six games in the Allsvenskan by the summer. As a result, several clubs showed interest in a commitment.

Change abroad

In mid-July 2012, Engblom left Sweden and moved to the Norwegian club FK Haugesund in the Tippeligaen . At first he was a regular player under coach Jostein Grindhaug in his two and a half years for the club in the highest Norwegian league. After nine starting eleven appearances in the 2012 season, he was only five times at the start of the game in the following two years. He had contributed to reaching third place and thus the European Cup in the 2013 season in twelve games, but none of these games played for the entire duration of the game.

At the beginning of February 2015, Engblom moved within Norway to the first division relegated Sandnes Ulf , with whom the attacker signed a two-year contract.
