The PostNord -Ligaen has been the official name of the third highest league in Norwegian men's football since 2016 . From 2012 to 2015 it was called Oddsenligaen , from 2010 to 2011 Fair Play ligaen , from 1991 to 2010 2nd divisjon and from 1963 to 1990 3rd divisjon .

It is the highest possible league for the reserve teams of the professional clubs, but only reserve teams of the first-class elite series are allowed.

mode

Since 2017, the PostNord-Liga has consisted of 28 teams, which are divided into two groups. In each group, the 14 teams play against each other twice, once at home and once away. Before 2017, the league consisted of 56 teams playing in four parallel groups.

Promotion to the OBOS league

Up to three teams can be promoted to the OBOS league. The two group winners go straight up. One of the two teams placed second can gain promotion in a qualifying tournament in which the third from bottom of the OBOS league also takes part. Only the two PostNord-Liga teams compete against each other in the first and second leg. The promoted or non-relegated will be determined in two relegation games between the winners of the PostNord-Liga duel and the OBOS-League team.

Relegation to the Norsk Tipping League

The last three teams of the two groups are relegated and are replaced by the six group winners of the next highest division, the Norsk Tipping League (called 3rd Divisjon until 2016).
