Atlantis FC
The Atlantis Football Club is a Finnish football club based in Helsinki , in 1995 from the merger of Helsinki clubs Johanneksen Dynamo and FC Norssi emerged.
Atlantis FC has been playing in the Kolmonen , the fourth highest league in Finland , since 2017 .
history
After being founded in 1995, Atlantis FC took part in the third division for the first time in 1996. In 1997 he was promoted to the Ykkönen . In 1999 the club reached the relegation for promotion to the highest league, the Veikkausliiga , but failed because of the Vaasan PS . A year later, the club then managed to rise. 2001 Atlantis won the Finnish Football Cup by beating Tampere United 1-0 and was seventh in the Veikkausliiga. In 2002 the club ran into financial problems and went bankrupt. The newly founded AC Allianssi got the starting place in the Veikkausliiga . The second team from Atlantis FC, the so-called Atlantis Akatemia, was able to continue to play in the third division and changed its name to Atlantis FC in 2003. In 2004 the "new" Atlantis FC rose to the Ykkönen. In the 2009 season, the club was relegated to the Kakkonen and in 2016 to the fourth-class Kolmonen.

Venue
Atlantis FC plays its home games in the traditional Töölön Pallokenttä , which is right next to the Sonera Stadium and the Olympic Stadium . It was built in 1915 and was the first football stadium in Finland at the time. The stadium was the venue for many international matches for the Finnish national team until the 1930s . It was renovated in 2001 and now holds 4,000 spectators.
Others
Gösta Sundqvist , the singer of the Finnish band Leevi and the Leavings , gave the club the name Atlantis .
