Helsingin Toverit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helsingin Toverit (also known as HT Helsinki ) was a sports club from the Finnish capital Helsinki . The club, founded in 1916, became Finnish football champions in 1942.

The soccer team made it to Mestaruussarja for the first time in 1931 . After the immediate relegation, the club made it again in 1933 and was then able to hold in the top division of Finland. Toverit also went through the chaos of war from 1939, which also had an impact on gaming operations. Nevertheless, the club managed to win the Finnish championship in 1942 by a 6: 4 in the final of the finals over Viipurin Sudet . After the war, the team lost contact with the national top, and from 1946 onwards they only played third-rate. 1959 to 1961 HT Helsinki appeared again in the second highest division for three seasons.

In 1923 HT Helsinki qualified for the final round of the Finnish Pesäpallo Championship, but failed in the semifinals to Etelän-Pohjanmaan Palloveikot with 4-8. In addition, the club also had departments in orienteering, athletics, boxing and ice hockey. HT Helsinki disbanded around 1962.
