Rafael Pires Vieira , also Rafael or Rafael Pires , (born August 1, 1978 in Criciúma ) is a Brazilian football player .

career

Rafael began his career in Finland with HJK Helsinki , where he became national champion in 1997 and won the league cup . He also won the title of top scorer in 1997 with 11 goals in the Veikkausliiga . After several years at HJK and FC Jazz Pori , he moved to SC Heerenveen in 2000 . There he could not assert himself, however, and only made eight appearances in two seasons. In 2002 he joined the Turkish club Denizlispor . Again, he only managed three games, so he decided to return to Finland. After a season with third division Forssan JK , in which he was the league's top scorer, he moved back to the Veikkausliiga for FC Lahti in 2005 . With this club he won the league cup in 2007, 2013 and 2016. After a total of twelve years in Lahti, he moved on to third division club Mikkelin Kissat in January 2017 at the age of 38 .
