Christian-Conservative Germany Forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Christian Conservative Germany Forum (CKDF) was an association of right-wing conservative CDU politicians from 1992 to 2003 .

Founding history

The organization was founded at the beginning of December 1992 by around 192 CDU members from the right wing, with the significant participation of eleven members of the Bundestag , such as Claus Jäger , Wilfried Böhm and Heinrich Lummer , and several members of the state parliament (MdL). The aim was to "give the right wing of the Union an organizational form and voice and the conservative Union associations an umbrella organization". The original initiative came from the Baden-Württemberg CDU / JU member Jörg Schmidt from the Rems-Murr district. In several months of work he had won numerous prominent CDU politicians from the conservative wing of the Union for the project through letters, discussions and meetings. Jörg Schmidt stepped more and more into the background, but kept in touch mainly with members of the Saxon state parliament. Together with an MdL speaker from Dresden, he developed an information sheet entitled “Germany Forum”, also known as DForum for short, in order to accompany and support the CKDF journalistically.

Helmut Walter became the provisional managing director. Claus Jäger, Rudolf Karl Krause , who joined the Republicans in 1993 , and the Saxon state parliament member Wolfgang Nowak were elected speakers . The nationwide founding was preceded by the formation of "conservative discussion groups" within the Union parties : "Value Conservative Circle", "Petersberger Kreis" in Hesse, "Karlshorster Kreis" in Berlin, "Potsdamer Kreis", discussion groups in Stuttgart and Tübingen, in which right-wing conservative parts are the Union came together.

Originally, the initiators had expected other prominent members such as Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder , Manfred Kanther , Constantin Freiherr Heereman and Gerhard Löwenthal . Their absence was justified within the forum with fear of internal party reprisals. Co-founder Böhm also soon distanced himself. In contrast, Claus Jäger only resigned from his position as spokesman in September 1993 after two of his motions for exclusion had not been approved.

The organization was accused of having a connection with Junge Freiheit (JF) and its readership. In 1993, Claus Jäger gave the introductory lecture of the first JF Summer University. The author Frank Bötzkes, who works for JF , was the chairman of the Young Conservative Working Group in Braunschweig from November 1993 to the beginning of 1995 .

Initially founded as a "conservative and nationally liberal collection movement within the Union parties", there was a break with the Union parties and the gradual self-dissolution in 1998 after the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia officially recognized the German-Turkish Forum as a CDU association and denied the CKDF this status would have. After further political differences, many of the approximately 800 CKDF members joined the Federation of Free Citizens (BFB); the CKDF Federal Spokesman's Council decided to discontinue its work. The active state forums have been organized in Kassel since 1998 and decided to continue the work of the federal forum as the “Conservative Christian Working Group”.

The organization last received nationwide attention in 2003 through its active support for Martin Hohmann through its Hessian state forum, the Conservative Christian Working Group (AKC) around Herbert Gassen.

Program

Important program items were a commitment to “Christian-conservative values”, a rejection of the “ multicultural society ”, the “ protection of unborn life ” and the advocacy of the “concerns of displaced people ” as well as “ asylum abuse ” and “women's quotas”.

Critics note that programmatic cornerstones hardly differ from right-wing positions: the “basic value of equality” is rejected, the “German fatherland” must not be allowed to merge in Europe, foreign policy must focus more on the expellees and German resettlers, the children on patriotism , Honor and freedom will be educated, and the police should be allowed to take more and tougher action again.
