Claus hunters (* 20th July 1931 in Tübingen , † 7. March 2013 ) was a German politician of the CDU from the National Association of Baden-Wuerttemberg .

Education, job and life

After graduating from high school in Tübingen in 1951, Claus Jäger began studying law at the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg . He passed the second state examination in law in 1959. During his studies, Jäger became a member of the KStV Alamannia Tübingen in the KV . From 1959 to 1972 Claus Jäger worked in the financial administration of Baden-Württemberg. From 1972 to November 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Claus Jäger lived in Wangen im Allgäu , was married and had five children.

Political party

Claus Jäger was a member of the Christian Democratic Union from 1953 (until 1971 also Junge Union ), and was among other things deputy district chairman of the CDU in Baden-Württemberg. Jäger was a member of the CDU association CDA .

MP

Claus Jäger was a member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1994 for the constituency of Wangen im Allgäu (7th to 12th electoral term). From 1981 to 1987 Jäger was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and there Parliamentary Director of the Christian Democratic Group.

Priorities of political work

During his entire membership in parliament, Jäger was a member of the Inner German Committee. From joining the Bundestag to the fall of 1989, Claus Jäger stood up for the reunification of Germany.

At times he was also a member of the Finance Committee , the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Research Committee.

Jäger was committed to the right to life of unborn children and was still deputy chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Association of Christian Democrats for Life after his political career . Outside of his constituency, he was publicly perceived almost exclusively as a conservative fighter for “law, order and custom” on the right wing of the CDU and as an opponent of abortion who fought for a total ban on all abortions.

Pope John Paul II awarded him the Order of Gregorius in 1995 for his services to the Roman Catholic Church and appointed him Cavalier.

Claus Jäger was on the list of speakers at the Weikersheim Study Center .

Claus Jäger was also a co-founder (with Heinrich Lummer, among others ) of the Christian-Conservative Germany Forum (CKDF) and first signatory of the Stop Link Trend campaign .
