The Catholic student association Alamannia Tübingen (KStV Alamannia Tübingen) is a non-striking, colorful Catholic student corporation founded in 1871 at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . She is a member of the Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Associations (KV).
Their motto is "In fide firmitas" - " In Treue fest ". Their colors are black-white-blue.
history
The Württemberg theologians Camerer and Schott founded a Catholic reading club in 1864 to enable a meeting point for Catholic students in Tübingen. This was renamed the student association in January 1871 and gave itself the name Alamannia on May 27, 1872, whereupon it was accepted as the 9th cartel association in the KV in 1872. The reorganization and alignment with the type of corporation followed later. Since 1906, Alamannia has no longer called itself an "association", but rather a "connection".
Since the Christian faith was not compatible with the National Socialist worldview, all denominational, especially the Catholic, associations were confronted with considerable pressure to dissolve. Membership in a Catholic corporation was associated with considerable disadvantages for students at the time, so that from 1935 onwards there were more and more difficulties with young people. After it was forced to dissolve itself in 1936, the house association had to dissolve itself in 1939. The house and garden had to be sold.
After the Second World War, Alamannia was re-established with the help of the then President of Württemberg-Hohenzollern and a member of the Gebhard Müller Association . Through court settlements, the house was recovered in 1950 and the garden in 1956. However, since the premises were given to refugee families, the house could only be fully occupied by Alamanni again in 1956.
House
In 1904 it was decided to build a connection house at Biesingerstrasse 15. The house was built in the neo-romantic style that was widespread at the time and corresponded to the lifestyle of the students and, due to its location, forms an urban focal point that can be seen from afar. At the same time, it offers a wonderful view of Hohentübingen Castle and the wide Neckar valley. The so-called Alamannenburg has since been the linchpin of active fraternity and is considered one of the most beautiful fraternity houses in Tübingen.
