Adolf Grober
Adolf Gröber (born February 11, 1854 in Riedlingen , † November 19, 1919 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center ).
Life and work
Born in Riedlingen, Gröber grew up in Weingarten . After graduating from high school in Stuttgart in 1872 , Gröber studied law in Tübingen , Leipzig and Strasbourg . He was an active member of the Catholic student associations in the KV : in Tübingen with the Alamannia , in Leipzig with the Teutonia, which he co-founded, and in Strasbourg with the Frankonia-Strasbourg . He did his legal clerkship in Rottweil . First he worked as a district judge in Neresheim and Saulgau before becoming a public prosecutor in Rottweil and then in Ravensburg . Since the 1890s he was a district judge in Schwäbisch Hall and later district court director in Heilbronn . From 1890 until his death he was a member of the board of the People's Association for Catholic Germany . He was President of the German Catholic Days in Dortmund in 1896 and in Essen in 1906 .
Gröber is buried in the Kreuzbergfriedhof in Weingarten . The Adolf-Gröber-Haus of St. Anna-Hilfe for the elderly in Weingarten and the Adolf-Gröber-Strasse in Laupheim , Ravensburg , Stuttgart and Riedlingen are named after him.
Political party
Since the end of the 1880s, Gröber campaigned for the establishment of an independent center organization in Württemberg , which then took place in 1895 . He was de facto state chairman ( Alfred Rembold officially held the office ) and the undisputed leader of the Württemberg Center Party until his death.
MP
Gröber had been in the Reichstag for the constituency of Württemberg 15 ( Ehingen , Blaubeuren , Laupheim , Münsingen ) since 1887 . In 1917 he became parliamentary group leader of the center in the Reichstag.
Until his death, Gröber was a member of the Weimar National Assembly , where he led the center group. He belonged to the "Committee for the preliminary consultation of the draft constitution for the German Reich". From 1889 until his death he was also a member of the state parliament in Württemberg .
Public offices
In the government of Prince Max von Baden , Gröber was involved as a minister with no area of responsibility.
