Lothar Freund (lawyer)

Lothar Freund (* 1930 in Danzig ; † July 16, 2010 ) was a German lawyer.

Life

After studying law and working as a research assistant at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen , Lothar Freund first worked as a government assessor at the Biberach district office from 1961. From 1962 he was a judge at the Sigmaringen Administrative Court . From 1967 to 1970 he was a senior administrative judge at the Baden-Württemberg Administrative Court in Mannheim. In 1970 he went back to the Sigmaringen Administrative Court, where he was appointed permanent representative of the President at the end of 1974. In 1975 he was elected as presiding judge at the Administrative Court, where he first took over the 6th Senate, which was responsible for trade and displaced persons law, and later the 5th Senate, which was responsible for building, road, nature conservation and water law. From 1985 until his retirement in 1995 he was Vice President of the Administrative Court.

From 1983 he was also a full member of the State Court of Baden-Württemberg . In 1988 he was elected Vice President and in 1991 President of the State Court. He held this office until October 2002.

Freund was a member of the Catholic student association KStV Alamannia Tübingen .
