Lorenz Menz

Lorenz Menz (* 3. August 1935 in Hausen am Andelsbach , today community Krauchenwies , district Sigmaringen ) is a German lawyer and politician of the CDU .

After finishing school, Menz studied law at the University of Tübingen and became a member of the KStV Alamannia in the Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Associations . From 1962 he worked in the internal administration of the state of Baden-Württemberg, first at the Tuttlingen district office , from 1963 at the Tübingen secondary school office and from 1965 at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Education and Culture .

In 1979 he moved to the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg , in 1982 to the Ministry of Labor, Health, Family and Social Affairs , then to the Ministry of Science and Art and finally back to the State Ministry in 1984. Here he was appointed State Secretary on January 1, 1988 by Prime Minister Lothar Späth . He was therefore not a member of the state government of Baden-Württemberg with voting rights . He held this office until 2000 under Prime Minister Erwin Teufel .

In addition to his main role in the State Ministry, Menz had been a member of the SWR Board of Directors since 1998 and was its chairman from 2000. In addition, he was president of the DRK state association of Baden-Württemberg until September 2018 , and from 2001 to 2010 he was chairman of the DRK district association in Stuttgart. He is also President of the Baden-Württemberg State Music Association and was President of the Swabian Choir Association (2000–2010).

Menz is married and has five children.
