Paul Lipponer senior was a German soccer player .

The striker Paul Lipponer played with his hometown club VfTuR Feudenheim in the Odenwaldkreis. On July 11, 1920, the Feudenheimer stormed the city team of Mannheim in the game against Ludwigshafen on the left wing. In a 2: 3 defeat after extra time, he scored a goal on the side of Josef Herberger and Karl Höger . On March 13, 1921, he represented the colors of the Odenwaldkreis in a game against the Pfalzkreis. In the 5-2 success in front of 12,000 spectators, the center forward from Feudenheim stood out with three goals on the side of Herberger, Höger and Willi Hutter from SV Walhof. When he lost 4-6 against Waldhof in the final for the Rhein District Cup on April 23, 1922, he scored all four goals for Feudenheim. In the 1921/22 season he took second place with Feudenheim in the Odenwald district of Dept. 2 behind VfR Mannheim. In the Rheinbezirksliga he finished 6th with Feudenheim in 1923/24.

In 1924 he moved from VfTuR Feudenheim to the Hessian district league club 1. Mainzer FSV 05 . Exact career data are not available. Only from 1925 to the end of his career in 1931 are 110 games in the district league, championship finals and consolation round, in which Lippon scored 98 goals. Since then, his seven goals in the game against SV 05 Trier (8-0) on January 9, 1927 are unmatched in the club's history. In the 1925/26 season, he finished with promoted Mainz 05 in the Rheinhessen / Saar district behind the FV Saarbrücken took second place and won the championship in 1926/27 . In the 18 rounds of the regional league in 1926/27 and the ten final rounds of the South German Championship, Lipponer completed 27 games and scored 30 goals. He mostly ran up as a left connector.

Lipponer's son Paul junior also played briefly for the 05er, but for the longest time for SV Waldhof Mannheim .
